Indications have emerged that emerged that the government of Bayelsa has not given up on the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 46 licence it lost to revocation by Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

the bid turned out unsuccessful.

Bayelsa was won in 2013 through a bidding process conducted by the DPR.
The Bayelsa government on Wednesday said it remained interested in reinstatement of the Atala Marginal oil fields licence revoked by the Department of Petroleum Resources on April 6, 2020.

Meanwhile,
the DPR on April 6, 2020 announced the revocation of 11 of the 13 marginal
fields licenses it issued to indigenous oil firms to build capacity and promote
Nigerians’ participation in the oil sector.

development policy of the current administration noted that rural dwellers now

The Bayelsa government on Thursday said it has intervened to halt the dispute between students of the state owned Niger Delta University (NDU) and management of the institution that necessitated shut down of the university.

The Bayelsa government on Thursday dismissed online media reports alleging that Gov Douye Diri on Tuesday accused the Federal Government of sectional bias in a breakfast television show.
A statement issued by Mr Ayibaina Duba, Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy described the report as fake news calculated to pitch the Bayelsa government against the President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
The government described the report which accused the federal government of sectional bias in the handling of the case of the proclaimed leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as falsehood.
Bayelsa Government says it would assist subsistence farmers in the state with improved techniques and inputs to boost production and achieve food security.
Mr David Alagoa, Commissioner for Agriculture,
stated on Saturday in Yenagoa, while fielding questions from members of
Federated Correspondent’s Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists currently on
inspection tour of projects in the state.
Alagoa explained that the move was to empower small
scale farmers considering the fact that they produced 80 per cent of the food
being consumed in the state.
The Bayelsa Government has urged eligible residents in the state to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Chief
Ayibaina Duba, the INEC Commissioner for Information, Orientation and
Strategy, made the appeal in a statement on Friday in Yenagoa.
The
nationwide exercise started on June 28 at INEC’s offices across the
eight local government areas in Bayelsa.
Duba,
who said a credible Voters’ Register was crucial to credible electoral process,
advised residents to take their civic responsibilities seriously by
participating in the registration.
