Boroh runs Presidential Amnesty Office in a transparent manner-Official

Mr Jude Gbaboyor, Special Assistant on Social Media to Cordinator of Presidentia, Ammnesty Programme Brig-Gen Paul Boroh (rtd) on Monday reiterated that the Amnesty Office is run transparently in accordance to best practices.

Gbaboyor who represented Boroh in a one day seminar on the use of social media in information dissemination in Yenagoa condemned the use of social media to disseminate falsehood in the guise of whistle blowing.

He dismissed allegations by interest groups sponsored by non performing contractors accusing the amnesty office of lack of transparency in its financial dealings saying that misuse of social media to misinform the people was unfortunate.

The media aide explained  that Boroh has nothing to hide as his hard earned reputation in the military and the United Nations, cannot be dented through blatant lies, intimidation and cheap blackmail on social media by frustrated persons.

According to Gbaboyor, all transactions in the Amnesty Office under Boroh's watch follow due process, contrary to the unsubstantiated allegations made against the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

He said that contractors with frivilous claims on non existing contracts were behind the campaign of calumny adding  that the Amnesty Office has paid verified debts owed by the previous administration.

"The current financial transaction and payment system by CBN through the TSA platform is transparent and verifiable.

"It is the best accountable payment system introduced by the federal government to ensure that all financial transactions are done in accordance with international best practices and due process," he said.

Gbaboyor who called for positive use of social media for social mobilisation based on verifiable information channels condemned attempts to blackmail the office and person of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta in the pretext of whistle blowing.

He contended that while whistle blowing is an essential ingredient in a democracy, unethical and irresponsible act of whistle blowing by self seeking politicians with the sole aim of causing disaffection in the polity for their selfish gains, was misleading and counterproductive.

He noted that the whistle blowing Act has been ammended to penalise false and misleading informants and commended the federal government for the legislation.

He therefore urged the people of the Niger Delta to be wary of peddling false acusations at a time the Amnesty Office is doing its best to build peace and human capacity in the Niger Delta region.

The official explained that President Muhammadu Buhari is highly appreciated for his commitment to peace and also for sustaining the Presidential Amnesty Programme under Boroh's leadership.

He said that the ongoing vocational and skills trainings for youths have created a platform for entrepreneurial skills acquisition and development among the youths in the region to improve the socio-economic status of the people to achieve sustainable peace, stability in the region.
