Group appeals to Police to free Nursing mother kidnapped in Brass LGA, Bayelsa
A lactating mother was on Tuesday separated from her few weeks old baby by kidnappers who abducted her and whisked to an unknown destination, denying the newborn of nourishment.
The Supreme Council for Non-Indigenes in Bayelsa State has condemned the kidnap of Mrs. Roselyn Okokingho by yet to be identified criminals who broke into her home around 8.45pm on Teusday at Twon Brass in Brass Local Government Area of the state.
A statement signed by the President General of the Council, Ade Bakare called on Bayelsa State Command of the Nigerian Police to do everything to secure the unconditional release of Roselyn to her family.
Bakare said that the call became urgent because Roselyn is a nursing mother whose babe is currently being denied breast milk as a result of the forced abduction of her mother.
He said the matter has already being reported by the husband of the victim Pius Okokingho to the Police authorities in Brass.
Why expressing council’s solidarity with the victim’s family as this difficult time, Bakare expressed confidence in the ability of the police to secure the release of Mrs Roselyn Okokingho and bring are abductor to justice.
Police sources in Brass confirmed that the incident has been incidented at Brass Police Division but Asinim Butswat, Police Spokesman for Bayelsa Command declined to comment on the incident.
