Youth parliamentarian seeks business support funds for Africa, Arab youths

Mr Onisoman Kos-Ikah, a Nigerian Youth Parliamentarian, has called on the Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) to set up the Africa Arab Youth Business Fund to help the youths from the continent develop their business potentials.

The call was made in a statement signed and issued to newsmen, in Yenagoa on Sunday by Kos-Ikah

Kos-Ikah, representing Bayelsa Central in the Nigerian Youth Parliament and Nigerian Delegate to Afro-Arab Youth Congress, Kampala, Uganda, raised the salient point.

Afro Arab Youth Council is an International organization that  brings together young leaders from Africa and the Arab world, whose interest is to unite the youth of the two regions.

He said that youths in Africa and the Arab Nations are not lacking ideas, business initiatives and innovation but are only lacking in support to develop their business potentials.

Kos-Ikah, explained that African Youths with business initiatives have always suffered setbacks due to lack of funding and proper support.

He said: "Youths of Africa and the Arab Nations are not lacking in ideas, business initiatives and innovation but are only lacking in funding support.

"It is not news that the African Youths with business initiatives have always suffered setbacks due to lack of capital funding.

"In the foregoing, I called on the Afro Arab Youth Council to set up the Afro Arab Youth Business Fund (AAYBF), the fund shall be dedicated to supporting youths with genuine business initiatives to benefit and empower them.

"The fund can be sourced from donor agencies or member nations may be called upon to contribute financially to the fund.

"Selected young persons in Africa and the Arab Nations can then receive these funds in form of grants annually at every congress and return to their various countries to fund their businesses, grow and contribute to the local economy," the statement read in part.
