Chief Chinedu Arthur-Ugwa, Coordinator of Ohanaeze Youth
Wing is South South on Wednesday urged politicians to focus on public interest
in the current crisis in the National Assembly.
Arthur-Ugwa said in Yenagoa that the timey intervention
of Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on the crisis averted embarrassment to
the nation.
He said that the sack of the Director-General of the
Department of State Security (DSS) Maman Daura over unauthorized barricade o
the National Assembly was timely and restored the confidence of the international
community.
According to him, the entire world was watching the
development which ran contrary to the concept of separation of powers.
He observed that the legislature was an independent arm
of government and the handling of relationships between the two arms of
government must be in accordance to the constitution.
“We applaud the Acting President for promptly reacting
and calling the DSS to order, it was also a signal to other overzealous
security who act outside the laws.
“The Acting President has really shown that he is really
a Professor of Law by standing on the side of the law, we also want to urge the
political class to focus more on issues of public interest rather than their
personal interest.
“The whole noise in the past week has been less on public
interest, they are there to represent the people and they should discuss more
on the public good than on themselves.
“They are not addressing the challenges facing us as a
nation, we have insecurity in many parts of the nation and there is
unemployment and hunger but all they talk about is about themselves and their
welfare,” Arthur-Ugwa said.
Good one from the boss, may God continue to give wisdom in all do.
