The Bayelsa government on Thursday said it remained committed to delivery of quality jobs in constituency projects across the state and advised contractors to ensure compliance to job specification.
Bayelsa State Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation stated
the position when it inspected completed and ongoing constituency projects in
the state on Thursday.
.
Projects inspected include jetty at Sangana, Access Road Sangana, Concrete
pavement at Bekekiri, Concrete pavement in Twon Brass and Concrete
pavement, Ewoama in Brass Local Government Area.
In Nembe Local Government Area, the Directorate inspected Concrete pavement at Agrisaba, Concrete pavement in Obioku, and electrification of Sand-filled Area at Nembe.
Town hall for Otuegwe, Civic centre, Opume and Onuebum play ground
were inspected in Ogbia Local Government Area.
The Team also inspected Unity bridge, Lalagbene, Concrete pavement, Ndoro,
concrete pavement at Ekeremor, in Ekeremor Local Government Area, and a
town hall, Adagbabiri.
Also a Pavilion reception Boot at Sagbama, Access Bridge ,Angalabiri,
and Town hall, Ayima Ebeni in Sagbama Local Government Area.
Others are concrete pavement Gbarian, Towm Hall, Onyoma, and
electrification project, Ekowe in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
Projects inspected include Town hall in Akaibiri ,and concrete pavement
Akaba in Yenagoa Local Government Area and a Jetty, Gbaranbiri, and a concrete
Road, Kaiama, among others in Kolokuma /Opokuma Local Government
Area.
Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Chairman of the Directorate for
Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Ebiye Tarabina, lauded the contractors
for the quality and extent of work done so far.
Tarabina who noted that the Douye Diri led administration was fully
committed to providing infrastructural development to change the narrative of
the state, said all projects must be executed in accordance with professional
standards and job specifications.
He commended Members of the Bayelsa House of Assembly for initiating the
constituency projects ,which, when completed, would serve as a catalyst for the
socio-economic development in the rural areas of the state.
The Directorate chairman further applauded the communities where the projects
are sited , urging them to appreciate Government kind gesture by protecting the
facilities from being vandalised.
At Sagbama, pavilion reception boot and a Town hall project in Ayima Ebeni, the
Project Manager, Mr. Desmond Kenebai commended the Directorate for the inspection
tour, adding that with the determination of the present administration, the
projects will be completed on schedule.
