The Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in Niger Delta (MOSIEND) has condemned the violent attack on officers of the Nigerian Police Force at their various duty post's in Rivers State on Friday May 7, 2021.

It would be recalled that the attack left 7 policemen dead

Alhaji Abubakar Amaigo Brown, National Director Mobilization and Comrade George Okitikpi, Chief Security Officer to MOSIEND President in a statement issued in Port Harcourt conveyed the group’s concerns on the worsening insecurity in Rivers state..

MOSIEND described recent attacks on security forces as unfortunate, barbaric, senseless and evil by all ramifications, and such perpetrators must be fished out and made to pay for their crimes at all cost.

“As a group, we are calling on the citizens, residents and groups in Rivers State to come and condemn the acts, it is callous and inhuman, these police officers who are breadwinners of their family really don't deserve to die just like that, what's their crime? are they not Nigerians?

“Rivers people, Nigerians and indeed foreigners residing in the state should be on the alert and vigilant at all times to report strange and suspicious movement around their environment and neighborhood to the nearest security agents for prompt action.

“Security is everybody's responsibility, the recurring decimal of violent crimes on security officers is a clear indication that some hoodlums have turned themselves to agents of darkness and enemies of the state to wreak havoc in the state to score cheap points and Rivers people must not allow it.

“The Nigerian Police and sister security agencies should be alive to their responsibilities through effective monitoring and supervision of command and control, while still encouraging healthy citizens engagement for sound information and intelligence gathering,” the statement read in part..

The group urged Gov Nyesom Wike to up his game, by activating and applying policies and machineries he has hitherto established to deescalate these enemies of the state.

They pointed out that Rivers people deserve a more strategic and coordinated approach to stem the tide of violence before it snowballs into an unmanageable situation.

The group commiserate with the families of the victims, the Nigerians Police Force and Rivers people.
