Bayelsa Project Monitoring Directorate impressed with pace,quality of ongoing roads

Chief Ebiye Tarabina, Chairman of the Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Monday expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work by contractors in various projects in the state. 



Tarabina who gave the contractors a pat at the back during an inspection of some ongoing road projects in the state noted that the state government remains committed to ensuring standards set in contracts were attained in projects.






He noted that the directorate will continue to insist on getting value for money, adding that the impact the road projects on the people of the state was the major justification for undertaking the projects.


 


The chairman urged the supervising engineers to ensure that every site instructions issued to contractors was adhered to saying the directorate will sanction and blacklist contractors who fail to comply.



The chairman led the directorate’s team to inspect the Egbedi road projects,  Elebele Bridge, AIT to  Igbogene road and Igbogene /Tombia road project. 



The chairman who commended the company handling the Igbogene /Tombia road project for the quality of work done on the project, noted that the contractor has demonstrated commitment and capability on the job. 


He however, urged the contractor to speed up with the pace of work to meet deadlines as the rainy season is underway. 



The site manager of the company, CCECC Henry Zhang explained that two kilometres of sand filling has been achieved while 40 per cent cement-sand  stabilization as well as a culvert were constructed. 



The site manager of the company, Henry Zhang assured that the company will do everything within its power to ensure timely completion of the project. 



Tarabiri also lauded the company handling the Egbedi road project, PAACIE  Construction Limited for the pace and quality of work,  however urged the contractor to put in more effort to ensure speedily completion of the project. 



The General Manager of the company, Sarkis Abichmount who pledged completion of the project on record time said about 1300 metres of the road has been sand filled and more will be achieved in a few days time.
