Fred Agbedi urges constituents to approach to New Year with hope, optimism

Rep Fred Agbedi, member representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa, has urged members of his constituency and Nigerians to approach the New Year with hope and optimism.

Agbedi, who made the call in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr Miriki Ebikebina in Yenagoa, called on the people to go into 2021 with renewed hope and optimism in God for better days ahead.

The lawmaker noted that 2020 had gone with its plethora of challenges and unsettling uncertainties.

According to him, the outgone year will be mostly remembered for the COVID-19 pandemic which caused economic hardship and social disruptions across the entire world.

He said that the flood disaster which equally further impacted Bayelsa, its people and other states, were parts of the challenges that the people overcame in the outgone year.

He commended the Federal Government and the Bayelsa government for navigating 2020 with courage and determination in spite of all the socio-economic, political and security challenges that pervaded the country’s landscape.

Agbedi expressed immense gratitude to God for instituting His love and peace in Bayelsa, and urged the people to support the Gov. Douye Diri administration.

He expressed confidence in the avowed commitment of the Diri government to deploy progressive policies and programmes that would ensure equitable spread of development to the three senatorial districts of Bayelsa.

On plans for his constituency in 2021, Agbedi said: “I will continue to highlight the challenges facing our people and they know that my voice will always be heard on the floor of the House.

“Even though the legislature lacks the powers to award contracts, I will redouble efforts to interface with government agencies handling projects in my constituency.

“In November 2020, we inaugurated empowerment scheme by Sustainable Development Goals office for 30 members of my constituency and so many of such projects are ongoing, I shall continue to monitor and follow up.

“I will work hard to ensure that whatever is meant for my people will be brought to them,” Agbedi said.

Agbedi also thanked them for their support and abiding faith in his capacity to give effective representation at the House of Representatives.

He wished his constituents and the people of the state a fruitful and prosperous New Year, while calling for peace, love and unity for the greater good of society.
