following the swearing in of Senators Douye Diri, and Lawrence Erujakpor who
occupied the seats as Governor and Deputy Governor of Bayelsa respectively
The members of Odoni and Aduku communities in Sagbama Local
Government Area on Thursday urged Dickson to contest the forthcoming senatorial
bye-election for Bayelss West.
They made the call after a stakeholders meeting held at the Ward
8 headquarters.
Convener of the meeting, Chief Felix Omemu said the call has
become imperative in view of the former governor’s track record of achievement
and his pedigree.
He stated that given the former Governor’s passion for the Ijaw
struggle, he would represent not only the people of Bsyelsa West effectively
but the entire Ijaw nation will have a formidable voice at the Red Chamber.
Omemu noted that in the history of Bayelsa state it is former
Governor Dickson that has given the people of Ward 8 in Sagbama LGA the most
political appointments and developmental projects.
He expressed optimism that if Dickson gets elected ward 8 would
benefit from his tenure as Senator.
Earlier, Akpoegberi Ogidiga had moved a motion endorsing Chief
Seriake Dickson as the sole candidate of the ward and was seconded by Ekiyere
Youdeowei.
Taking turns to affirm their support for the endorsement of
Dickson, Peter Bofumo, former APC Chairman, Sagbama LGA, Alfred Kemepado, State
Volunteer boss, Lucky Asanakpo and Ebidowei Miebi all extolled the virtues of
the former Governor.
They called on him to heed the call of his people and run for
the vacant senatorial seat, describing him as a perfect fit for the position.
