OBJ’s letter to Buhari: Jonathan’s associate, George Turnah tackles Ameh Ebute over comments

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s ally and ‘political godson’ George Turnah , has lashed out at former Senate President, Ameh Ebute for his uncharitable comments against Jonathan.

Senator Ebute, in his reaction to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, on the state of the nation had disparaged  Jonathan’s tenure .

In a letter signed by Turnah and dated 6th February addressed to Senator Ebute, the former aide to former NDDC MD expressed the concerns that instead of the former Senate President to address Chief Obasanjo, he allegedly made unguarded statements against the administration of Dr. Jonathan, which he had commended back in 2013.

“Do not be Amnesic Sir, on December 18th, 2013, you replied a letter from Former President Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR) to then President Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR) with the title ‘RE: BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE’.

“In that Letter which you carefully drafted, You, Senator Ameh Ebute, CON, Former Senate President of Nigeria stated that ‘the Jonathan’s Administration is a pride to Nigeria and has positively impacted on the lives of Nigerians’, Turnah reminded Ebute.

Turnah in his own letter, cautioned Senate Ebute to thread carefully and act like an elder statesman.

“Your unsolicited replies to Letters, penchant for bashing leaders and condemnable appetite to do the unthinkable for pecuniary gains should be kept in check in your own interest.

“It would have been honourable if you had spoken out against the pogrom in Benue, the poverty and failing systems in the Country.

“I see you cannot muster the courage and find the integrity to do that because you are on the payroll of the current administration.

“Leadership is a relay race and Dr. Jonathan has ran his part.Stop demonizing Saints and deifying Villains because of crumbs’.A word is enough for the Wise”, Turnah stated.

George Turnah insisted that the achievements of Dr. Jonathan, were visible across sectors, saying  events that Jonathan was a performing President from what has happened since he left office.

6th  February, 2018

Sen. Ameh Ebute, CON,
Ugbokolo, Benue State,
Nigeria.

Dear Sir,

Re:      RE: THE WAY OUT: A CLARION CALL FOR COALITION FOR
NIGERIA MOVEMENT

In your unsolicited reply to the above titled Special Statement/Public Letter from Former President Olusegun Obasanjo(GCFR) to President Muhammadu Buhari(GCFR), You schizophrenically misrepresented the Laudable achievements of the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidency to serve the interest of your Paymasters and your characteristic two-facedness.

Nigerians know the differences between Light and Darkness, Progression and Recession, booming Polity and Stagnated Economy, Prosperity and Poverty, and as such will not be hoodwinked by your misguided innuendoes of ‘Nigeria was in a recession, the Economy was in a poor state before May 30th, 2015 and that the current Administration inherited an empty treasury’.

Do not be Amnesic Sir, on December 18th, 2013 (see Vanguardngr.com 2013-12-21), you replied a letter from Former President Olusegun Obasanjo(GCFR) to then President Goodluck Jonathan(GCFR) with the title ‘RE: BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE’.

In that Letter which you carefully drafted, You, Senator Ameh Ebute, CON, Former Senate President of Nigeria stated that ‘the Jonathan’s Administration is a pride to Nigeria and has positively impacted on the lives of Nigerians’.

While praising Jonathan for fighting Corruption in that Letter, You said:

‘Today, neither the EFCC nor ICPC is pressured nor teleguided to pursue perceived Enemies … President Jonathan has continued to show maximum resistance to interfere with the judicial process’.

In your February 3rd, 2018 Letter, You insinuated that a Leadership was imposed on the Nation but in your December 18th, 2013 Letter, You stated that the election of Dr. Jonathan as President was not ‘a stand alone act’.

Hear yourself speaking further about Dr. Jonathan:

‘To all discerning Public Observers, there is no argument that President Jonathan has employed the adroit strategies and demonstrated statesmanship in the handling of critical national challenges, deserving of a democratically elected President. Because he knows his primary responsibility to the people is protection of their lives and property, President Jonathan’s style has not only assisted in sustaining our fragile unity as a Country but has made him no less a Commander-in-Chief’.

‘President Jonathan’s human characteristics ensured that no innocent Citizen was deliberately affected by the activities of the Military. The purpose being to curb the Boko Haram insurgents, Nigerians are aware that about 500 insurgents are to be arraigned. A remarkable difference in strategy and tact.

Having heard yourself bootlicking Dr. Jonathan in your Letter dated 18th December, 2013 and painting his administration black in your Letter dated 3rd  February, 2018, in sharp contrast within a space of five years, are you worthy of being taken seriously?

Are you not an Apologist of Sitting Presidents?

Are you not going to paint President Buhari black when he leaves office?

It is said that one should not approbate and reprobate but you are going back to your vomit like a dog.

Nigerians can see and take you as someone who speaks from both sides of the mouth and that you do so for the sake of gaining cheap relevance and for the purpose of stomach infrastructure.

Nigerians know that the National Bureau of Statistics, under the current Administration, declared that the Nigerian economy went into Recession in the second quarter of 2016, after two consecutive quarters of negative growth, more than a year after Dr. Jonathan left office.

Nigerians also know that the Nigerian economy attained the highest ever growth levels during the Jonathan’s Presidency. As in 2013 and 2014, the Economy was growing at 7% per annum.

Nigerians further know that the Jonathan administration left $29.6 Billion in Foreign Reserves, $2 Billion in Excess Crude Account and more than 1 Billion Dollars in the Sovereign Wealth Fund. Over $5 Billion was left in the Gas Account. Thus, the Treasury could not have been empty.

Nigerians still know that the Jonathan administration through comprehensive sectoral reforms, demonstrated the capacity to maintain a sustained economic growth with strong macro-economic fundamentals, especially with remarkable improvement in inflation pressure which stabilized at a single digit.

Nigerians are in the know that besides growing to become the largest economy in Africa with a GDP Profile of over $500 Billion, Nigeria remained the largest African recipient of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as at the time Former President Jonathan handed over power to the present Administration.

Worthy of further mention are the following:

v  Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product rose to $503 Billion in 2013 and became Africa’s largest economy and 26th in the World.

v  Nigeria became number one destination for Foreign Direct Investment in Africa under Former President Jonathan with the numbers rising from $24.9 Billion as at 2007 to cover $35 Billion in 2014.

v  Jonathan’s Government delivered over 25,000 kilometers of motorable federal roads from just a quarter of that number in 2011.

Haven opened your eyes to the above truths, I am sure you will agree with other Nigerians that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was a Breath of Fresh Air and a Messianic Leader.

Your unsolicited replies to Letters, penchant for bashing Leaders and condemnable appetite to do the unthinkable for pecuniary gains should be kept in check in your own interest. It would have been honourable if you had spoken out against the pogrom in Benue, the poverty and failing systems in the Country. I see you cannot muster the courage and find the integrity to do that because you on the payroll of the current administration.

Leadership is a relay race and Dr. Jonathan has ran his part.

‘Stop demonizing Saints and deifying Villains because of crumbs’.

‘A word is enough for the Wise’.

God Save Nigeria, God Bless Nigerians.

Member of the Order of the Niger (MON)
