Niger Delta Youth Leaders applaud Buhari for endorsing Kachikwu to run Petroleum Ministry

The Niger Delta Non-Violence Youth Leaders Assembly (NDNVYLA),has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for delegating to Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to function as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The group made the commendation in a statement by its President Amb. Kennedy Tonjo-West  and made available on Sunday in Yenagoa.

NDNVYLA said the confidence reposed on Kachikwu was an indication that Buhari values competence and performance as the Minister had restored sanity and orderliness to the oil industry within a short time in office.

NDNVYLA noted that Kachikwu having served as the GMD, NNPC and Minister for State Petroleum Resources has brought stable pump price and made the product available across the country.

Having worked directly under Mr. President for nearly two years now, Kachikwu has proven his mettle, tested and trusted enough to be confirmed to carry the vision of Mr. President in that “” The group described Kachikwu as the direct student of Buhari, who knows the mind of Mr. President concerning the industry.

The statement added that Dr kachikwu as the former GMD, NNPC has brought a lot of reforms that transformed the position of NNPC.

The statement also added that Kachikwu played a pivotal role in bringing together leaders, elders and stakeholders to resolve the problems of the Niger Delta Avengers and other agitated groups that quell the crises.

“We appeal to any interest group that intends to frustrate the endorsement of Dr. Ibe Kachikwu as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources by President Buhari to have a rethink.

“These interest groups murmured when the President in his wisdom permitted Dr. Kachikwu to act as the substantive Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) because the post is for a substantive minister.

“We urge them to apply foresight while considering the effectiveness and speedy accomplishment of the President’s vision when Kachikwu steps to implement the milesstone which has suffered some setbacks due.
.

“The notion that Kachikwu is still an outsider by the core oil and gas industry stakeholders in spite of the years he spent at Exxonmobil and his background as a lawyer is a fallacy and illogical and faulty argument given results he has achieved.

“The Bible says withhold not good from him that it is his due, when it is in your power to do so.

“Kachikwu came into the political scene by President Buhari, as a GMD NNPC, he has worked so hard to earn the respect and confidence of Nigerians and the people of the Niger Delta Region,” the statement read in part.

NDNVYLA noted that Kachikwu’s appointment as a substantive minister will rekindle hope and confidence of the people of the region towards the federal government as well as an indication of a commitment to drive development of the Niger Delta..

“His endorsement by Buhari is divine, premised on hard work, performance and can also be counted as one of the palliatives to pacify the people of the region.

“Kachikwu traversed the creeks of Niger Delta to make peace, he paid a huge sacrifice, united the people at the communities and align their perspectives to the vision of the government at the center,” the group stated.
