IYC Secretary applauds FG’s directive to oil firms to relocate to Niger Delta



The Secretary of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Parkins Ogede on Sunday applauded the Federal Government's directive to oil firms operating in the Niger Delta region to relocate their headquarters to the region.

The newly elected National Secretary of the IYC made the commendation in an interview with the newsmen in Yenagoa.

Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo had directed the International Oil Companies operating to relocate at a Town Hall meeting in Uyo, during continuation visit to the region to dialogue with stakeholders.




Ogede noted that the Ijaw youths will benefit from the policy haven suffered unemployment despite the abundance of oil in the region.

He stressed that no youth from the region welcome the policies aimed that engendering the growth and development of oil-rich Niger Delta region.

 He noted that the relocation of oil multinationals head offices to their host communities and states is long overdue as previous administrations had given such directive to no avail

The IYC scribe noted that Osinbajo’s, directive to oil firms is laudable but should be followed therein by actions.

 According to him, the follow up will ensure youths are gainfully employed as peace and orderliness has returned to the region.


Parkins Ogede urged the youths to embrace peace and unity to witness a rapid development of the Niger Delta region.
