Buhari applauds, reappoints Idris Musa as NOSDRA Director-General

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Mr Idris Musa as Director-General of the National Oil Spills Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) following sterling performænce in the past four years.


The development was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by Olusegun Shogbola, Media Aide to Minister of Environment Mohammed Abdullahi on behalf of the Minister.

INEC distributes sensitive election materials for State Assembly Elections in Bayelsa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bayelsa on Thursday distributed materials for State Assembly Election slated for March 18.


The sensitive materials were sorted out and dispatched at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yenagoa to the eight local government area that make up the 24 constituencies in the state.


The distribution of materials was witnessed by Party agents and other stakeholders, whilest journalists were not allowed into the premises to witness first hand, the distribution process.

Shell resumes oil export from Bonny Oil Export Terminal

The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) on Wednesday announced resumption of oil exports from the Bonny Crude Oil Export Terminal.


The resumption of oil exports from the facility follows the lifting of 'Force Majeure' on oil exports due to a blast on a pipeline feeding the terminal on March 3.

Naira Redesign: Bayelsa Govt urges CBN to ameliorate sufferings

The Bayelsa Government on Saturday called on the the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to respect the judgment of the Supreme Court and ease the hardships of citizens caused by the new Naira policy.


The government also appealed for calm amidst the challenges faced by Nigerians following the Naira redesign and cashless policy introduced by the CBN.


The government made the call in a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Chief Ayibaina Duba, following protest by residents of the state over the policy.

Explosion at TNP pipeline in Rivers traced to oil theft, Shell regrets loss of lives

he Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) says investigation into Friday’s explosion at the Rumuekpe section of Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Rivers, shows the blast was caused by activities of oil thieves.


 


SPDC in an update statement on Sunday, noted that a joint investigation by representatives of regulators, host communities, operator and state Ministry of Environment on Saturday found a breach on the TNP.


 

Explosion at Shell's TNP pipeline in Rivers kills 12

At least 12 persons died on Friday following an explosion at the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Rumuekpe, Rivers.


Police Spokesman in Rivers, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said that rescue efforts were underway.


The TNP, operated by Shell, evacuates crude from its oil fields to the Bonny Crude Oil Export Terminal.
