NSCDC bursts petroleum products adulteration syndicate, arrests 3 suspects in Bayelsa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) says it has uncovered a syndicate and arrested three suspects involved in adulteration of petroleum products.

 

 

Mrs Christiana Abiakam-Omanu, the  Commandant of NSCDC in Bayelsa, made the disclosure on Wednesday  while parading the suspects before newsmen at NSCDC Headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa capital.

N3bn Agric loan suit against Ex-Radio Bayelsa GM: Bayelsa Govt reassigns case

Hearing in the case against a former General Manager of Radio Bayelsa who raised alarm over alleged diversion of N3 billion Agric loan by government officials was stalled on Tuesday.

 

 

The case slated for hearing at a Bayelsa High Court Sagbama sitting in Yenagoa before Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro suffered a setback as it was not heard.

 

 

Although the case was listed on the day’s cause list, and counsels on both sides present, there was an indication on the list that the case has been reassigned by the Chief Judge of Bayelsa, Justice Kate Abiri.

Group condemns maliccious attacks on BARAZA MD, Arc. Dr. Bribena

A civil society group, Integrity Group, Tuesday condemned the recent attacks on the home grown BARAZA Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited and the personality of his Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Miebi Bribena by the Nigerdeltaconnect.com and the NaijaliveTv.

 

 

The Cooperative Society pools resources from its members for investment in foriegn exchange trading and makes returns to investors on a monthly basis.

 

 

The coordinator of the group, Mr Henry Ebilade had in a statement called on the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at the State and National levels  to sanction the two online media outfits over alleged unprofessional conducts.

JTF averted 1,291 sabotage attempts on export pipelines in 2 years -Outgone Commander

The Joint Task Force (JTF) deployed to protect oil installations in the Niger Delta on Monday announced it averted 1,291 attacks on three crude export pipelines in the past two years.




Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade (Rtd) outgone Commander of JTF stated that a total of 1,603 sabotage incidents were reported on the export trunklines under his watch during a handing over ceremony in Yenagoa.

Afrobeat Artiste, Maskking establishes Record Label to promote Afro genre

The Afro-Renaissance artiste, Mr Prince Richards on Monday said he has joined the list of trademark owners with GENG GENG LORD.

 

 

The young musician who announced the development in a statement said the effort is in a bid to bring global attention to the lost part of Afrobeat.

 

 

According to him, a lot is happening in the entertainment industry and his style and blend of music offered by the Geng Geng Lord brand will add flavour with his Afro spice.

Bayelsa Govt. revokes MoUs between oil companies, host communities

The Bayelsa Government has announced the suspension of all agreements between international oil firms and their host communities across the state.

 

 

Gov. Douye Diri’s announcement is contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah on Thursday in Yenagoa.

 

Third phase Amnesty beneficiaries advocate training of outstanding 8,000 delegates

The third phase beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme for Niger Delta ex-militants on Friday appealed to the federal government to complete the training of the remaining 8,000 delegates before winding up the programme.



The leadership of the ex-agitators who made the appeal during an advocacy visit to the Federated Correspondents Chapel in Yenagoa applauded the Interim Administrator of the Amnesty Office, Col Milland Dikio (rtd) for his new approach to training and empowerment.



Mr Tonye Bobo, Interim President of Niger Delta Third Phase Ex-Militants Forum said that they were impressed with Dikio’s policy of emphasizing that ex-agitators were self reliant rather than relying on the N65,000 monthly stipends.

The beneficiaries of Water and Sanitation and Hygiene intervention by the Victims Support Fund (VSF) in three selected secondary schools in Bayelsa, Thursday applauded the gesture.



The VSF task force on COVID-19 on COVID-19 donated three solar-powered boreholes, worth N55 million to the schools drawn from three senatorial districts in Bayelsa.




They are Community Secondary School, Otuoke-Otuabagi in Ogbia Local Government Area (LGA), Community Secondary School Sagbama in Sagbama LGA, and Kaima Grammar School, Kolokumo/Opokuma LGA.

Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, Bayelsa produces 47 HND, 314 OND graduates

The Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, Bayelsa says it produced 47 Higher National Diploma (HND)and 314 Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in six academic sessions from 2014 to 2020.

 

 

 

The institution located in the creeks of Nun River in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area said the graduands will feature at a virtual convocation ceremony slated for March 23.

 

 

 

The Rector of the institute, Dr Enetimi Seiyaboh, stated this on Monday, during a press conference, to mark the convocation ceremony, organised by the Institution.

IPMAN hands over trucks laden with illegally refined petrol to Police in Bayelsa

The task force of Bayelsa chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has handed three trucks laden with suspected illegally refined petrol to police in Bayelsa.

The Bayelsa State Coordinator of IPMAN Mr. Bello Bina who confirmed the development on Sunday said that IPMAN had informed the Commissioner of Police who directed the suspects and trucks to be transferred the State Police headquarters.

 

 

It would be recalled that the team had on Friday apprehended three cargo trucks conveying the petrol packed in nylon bags suspected to from a yet-to-be identified illegal refinery site.

Oil production resumes at Conoil’s 30,000 bpd flowstation shut over expired MoU

Residents of Koluama in Bayelsa have vacated a crude production flow station operated by Conoil Production at Ango field shut down on March 8, after a dialogue with the oil firm.




Indications on Thursday at the oilfield show that oil production has resumed as the gas flare that characterised oil flow has returned.



The facility was shut over the refusal of the oil firm to renew a lapsed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which spelt out social obligations of the oil firm to its host communities.

N3 bn Agric loan: Police procures Magistrates court order to detain Ex-Radio Bayelsa GM for 30 days

The Police Command in Bayelsa on Friday said Mr John Idumange, former General Manager of Radio Bayelsa who alleged that government officials diverted N3 billion Agric loan has been charged to court.



Mr Mike Okoli, Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa said on Friday that Idumange was charged to court on Thursday and no longer under Police detention.



On the whereabouts of Idumange who had raised alarm that the first tranche of the N3 billion loan obtained from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) amounting to N1.5 billion was diverted by Bayelsa government was being detained by the court.

Marginal Oilfields Licencing: Absence for defense stall suit by Ijaw leaders

The Federal High Court Yenagoa on Wednesday adjourned a suit by Ijaw leaders seeking to halt the process leading to licensing for marginal oilfields located in their domains pending the determination of their suit.



The suit marked No, PHC/YEN/CS/81/2020 was filed by Chief Brown Agu (Opu Agu VIII), Mrs Rosemary John-Oduone, President Ijaw Women Connect, and Mr Femowei Friday.



The suit by the three plaintiffs, on behalf of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality, is seeking the court to restrain the  Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Minister of Petroleum Resources and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources who are the defendants.

US Consulate prepares Bayelsa Journalists to hold Govt accountable

The United States Consulate in Nigeria on Monday urged media practitioners to be alive to its responsibility of holding the government accountable to the electorates to deepen democratic ideals.




Mr Stephen Ibelli,  Public Affairs Officer US Consulate Lagos made the call while speaking at a post election capacity building workshop for Bayelsa based media practitioners in Yenagoa.

 

 

He noted that media was the fourth pillar in decocracy had a critical role of enlightening the electorates and equiping them with the information to make judgement.

We did not divert N3 bn CBN Agric loan, scheme ongoing, says Bayelsa Govt

The Bayelsa government on Saturday denied allegations that the N3 billion Agriculture loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was diverted by government officials.

 

Mr David Alagoa, Bayelsa Commissioner for Agriculture in a radio programme monitored  in Yenagoa described the allegations as false, baseless and childish.

 

 Dr John Idumange, a former General Manager of Bayelsa Broadcasting Corporation had alleged  diversion of N3 billion agricultural loan obtained by the immediate past administration led by Chief Seriake Dickson.

Former Governor of Bayelsa, Sen.  Seriake Dickson says he has no rift with his predecessor,  Gov. Douye Diri, who took over from him on Feb. 14, 2020.

 

 

 

Dickson said his noticeable absence from government functions was deliberate and in consonance with his values and principles of non interference.

Jonathan, enlists West African Ex-Presidents to mitigate electoral crises in region

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has enlisted  the support of other ex-presidents and Prime Ministers in West African to mitigate elections related conflicts to promote peace in the area.




Mrs Ann Iyonu, Executive Director, Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) announced in a News Conference in Yenagoa on Friday.




She said that the former leaders’ group christened West Aftrican Elders Forum (WAEF) was inaugurated by Jonathan in a virtual meeting held on Thursday.

Nigeria, Morocco sign 5 MOUs to foster cooperation on Hydrocarbons, Agriculture

The Federal Government and the Kingdom of Morocco on Tuesday signed five Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) that would foster Nigerian-Morocco bilateral collaboration.

 

 

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Naboth Onyesoh, Manager, Corporate Communications, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB)..

 

 

The agreements are to promote the development of hydrocarbons, agriculture, and commerce in both countries.

N/Delta Under-development : Ex-Militants leader blames selfishness of leaders from the region

A Niger Delta ex-agitators leader Pastor Reuben Wilson on Monday blamed political leaders and public office holders at the federal level for the under-development of the Niger Delta region.

 

 

Wilson who is also National President of the Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI) regretted that despite the huge sums of money accruing to the region for the past two decades the region remained neglected. 

 

Reuben who spoke in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa accused people from the region occupying federal offices of high level conspiracy to deliberately impoverish the region for selfish reasons.
